A commercial for Kim Bum’s Japan fanmeeting DVD

Check out this newly released commercial for Kim Bum’s upcoming Japan Fanmeeting DVD, which is set to hit the shelves in February.

Just my two cents here:
Oh my, his Engrish?!
What the heck are “holy nighhhhh”, “fall in laaa” and “feel my harrrr”? The English is not just weirdly accented. It’s actually incorrectly pronounced. Trust me, I did try to ignore it, but it just seemed too standing out for my ears. Did I read some news saying he’s quite fluent in English? Okay, guys, I know I know…He’s not native speaker. Sorry for being a little judgmental. What I’m saying is, owning a large English-speaking fanbase, Kim bum–and his management–may need to consider hiring a private English tutor before recording the song,  perhaps someone like me, free of charge…J/K

Again, Kim Bum may want to practice his posing while singing. He seems to not know where to put his hands, seriously.

InStyle Interview: Man of Style

Check out the magazine scans via this post.

Playboy, good-looking guy, warm smile… there are quite a few words come up to people’s mind when talking about Kim Bum. Five years after entering showbiz, Kim bum, as an actor, has achieved considerable accomplishments. Thanks entirely to his hilarious, talented performance in “Highkick” as Kim Ho, and his real-actor turn in “Eden of the East” as Lee Dong-chae, followed by the heartthrob So Yi-jung in “Boys over Flowers”, the pickpocket-turned-boxer Lee Jang-suk in “Dream’, and his breakthrough role in movie “Bi-sang”, Kim Bum is always passionately into his work.

“I feel I just start right now,” He says,” It is like running a Marathon, you have to complete the entire 26 miles to get to the finishing line. Only people with strong belief and passion can make it.” This is Kim Bum, an open-minded, brave and fearless actor. So how’s 2010 been treating him so far?

Last year, you performed in a couple of dramas/movies, and won the Best Newcomer Award at SBS Drama Award. Congratulations!
The new comer award came with a little surprise. It’s very special to me. It might bring with some pressure, but I felt really happy receiving this award.

Without taking a break, you picked a new project?
I didn’t take even one week off last year. I was planning to take a break after finishing filming Dream, but then Still came up and the role fit me well. I didn’t want to give up it. I feel it’s a great opportunity to work with a lot of veterans.

In your latest drama, I heard about a relationship with 12 years age gap. Have you ever came across this situation before?
You mean love beyond age gap? I thought it was impossible before. But after this drama, I feel people of older age also have the right to pursue love. Age shouldn’t be the limitation. I even feel more comfortable hanging around with older people now. So I want to meet such person. Read More…

Bromantic chemistry in Still earns viewers’ praise

In MBC’s airing series Still, the great on-screen buddy chemistry between Kim Bum and Choi Chul-ho’s grabs a lot of viewers’ attention. In the show, Kim Bum and Choi Chul-ho’s relationship is built up upon their long-time friendship, in spite of their large age gap. The two met each other as student and private tutor, and they became closer after Kim Bum’s role entered college. However, They switch their roles as relationship “mentor” and “mentee” as the less experienced Choi starts dating. Many female viewers find their fondess for the “smart Min-jae” and the “innocent Ban-suk”, by giving favorable comments such as ” very adorable, Kim Bum and Choi click so well on screen”, ” very interesting show, I like the “Min-jae and Ban-suk couple”, “I laugh loud every time when the two come up on screen.”

Recent news round-ups

There were quite a few pieces of news flowing around these last couple of days. Some quick round-ups for your amusement.

  • During Still’s on set interview on Feb 2th, Kim Bum–given the question that the male audience may not be able identify with his role–expressed that he cut off the Internet connection at home a couple of days ago, because he noticed he began a little overly concerning about others’ opinions, which aren’t something he usually cares much. He decided to cut off the internet to keep himself from being distracted.
  • During the same interview, Kim Bum displayed his excellent piano playing skills. He told, “I started learning how to play piano when I was five or six years old, because I noticed my fondness for piano. I want to play “Romance” (I guess he’s referring to a song, not a music genre) for the woman I love in the future.”  Currently learning how to play guitar for Still, Kim Bum expressed, ” This is my first time to learn to play guitar. I found it’s very interesting. Actually my little sister is studying music and composing in high school. I ask her things about music pretty often. “
  • Still on the same interview, Park Jin Hee, who plays Kim Bum’s love interest in Still, revealed that Kim Bum, to her surprise, a very mature man rather than a childish boy. She said, ” I feel he’s been hiding his real age. I really appreciate that he prepared hand warmer and comforter for me while filming in the freezing winter.”
  • Kim Bum recently jokes that, if Still’s ratings are beaten down by Chuno in ratings, he would consider performing in sageuk series next time. (His last project “Dream” lost in ratings against another sageuk show.)
  • He also expresses  that, because of playing the role Ha Min Jae, he got to understand people falling love with each other despite large age gap. He frankly tells, “I feel sharing common interests is more important to me, other than that, things like nationality, age, race, and occupation don’t matter.”

Bi-sang review: an ambitious experiment

I came across this movie online last weekend. (by coming across, I mean it’s somewhere on the Internet. Don’t even bother to ask where. I won’t tell, because it’s just not some legal publication that should be encouraged or even promoted, especially through here, via Bumsso.) Apart from knowing it’s starring Kim Bum, I didn’t have any other prior knowledge upon the movie, which indicates that I had expectation upon the movie but wasn’t sure what exactly to expect. Bi-sang ended up being a decent movie. By no means is it a Oscar-winning cinema, however, I was satisfied but not very impressed.

An interview of Kim Bum and Park Jin Hee

On the 2nd, there was a interview with Bummie and PJH during shooting.  Bummie revealed that when people fall in love, it doesn’t matter with age, nationality, race and gender. He said he preferred cooperating with older actresses than him, because he used to play with the old partners since he began his career, and he felt more comfortable with them than the same age or the younger ones. In addition, he was satified with the comments from viewers  that most of them thought them match together despite of a big age gap between them.

Sorry for missing a bummie’s pic of playing piano. There is some news that kim bum keep playing piano since elementary school until now, and he can play a few songs.  He would like to play songs for his girlfriend?(I am sure whether translation is correct because I just know a little Korean language)

Calm down please.  It’s obviously to promote his drama and attact more fans towards the drama. They always emphasize they can match well  again and again for most of viewers who never seen this drama don’t think they are real couples.

We all heard that So Eun can match any actors besides Bummie. As a good actor, he don’t want to be Yi Jeong forever, but more significant roles for viewers. Whether you like or not, he will cooperate with other actresses whenever now or future. Actually, we don’t need to worry about Bummie and PJH because it’s impossible for them to be together concerning so big age gap. He just respects her as a sunbae and can learn more from her. In fact, I do hope Bummie can also play well with other partners besides Eunnie only because he is an actor.

As Bumsso’s fans, please support Bummie and So Eun.
